The training needed to become a Certified Nursing Assistant is governed by both state and federal laws. The Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1987 is the federal law that states the minimum amount of training and supervised hands on training required, plus each state has their own requirements also. There also is a requirement for yearly continued education for nursing assistants. The person choosing this field of study should be compassionate with a desire to care for the ill and infirm in a caring and kind manner. A Nursing Assistant will help cheer and reassure patients while tending to their individual needs and requests.
Training can be found on-line as well as on campus at trade schools and many colleges and universities, and takes half a year to complete. Before being accepted into a training program the person must have completed high school or possess a GED certificate. Studies will consist of both classroom and clinical hands on learning experiences preparing the student to properly be able to meet the requirements of Certified Nursing Assistant Jobs. The student should check with the learning institute they have chosen for opportunities of Student Aid. Student Aid is available from several sources and dispensed depending on your financial situation and any scholarships you may already have earned.
